Back to work today on a book for the classroom that emphasizes the need to prepare before beginning to write. Adult writers understand that we seldom sit down to write before we have learned enough about our subject. How do we help students see the need? How do we present it so that they become interested and want to do it? And how do we help them dig in and get it done? Those are the questions I’m addressing this week.
A fourth grader doesn’t have access to all the resources that we do so the trick is to stay within the bounds of the elementary school experience and keep it real for students.
P.S. Just finished reading THE LINCOLN LAWYER and finally understand those commercials!
