Home again filled with enough good memories to live on for some time. Yesterday was a long one in the car. We drove 575 miles; 3732 miles overall on the trip. Our lovely neighbor Linda had a hot quiche and chocolate pie still warm from the oven waiting. Yum! We sat and sorted the last two weeks of mail, had a celebratory drink with our dinner (in plates on our lap), and watched Missouri struggling to make up its mind among the candidates. Today we’ll face the consequences of going to bed with luggage all over the bedroom floor, opened mail scattered on the sofas and floor, and a kitchen that looks like two hours of solid cleanup duty.
One of the highlights of the day was that I worked out the poetry chapter in my mind while driving yesterday. I knew it would come together eventually. Can’t wait to get started. I also received a note from my editor Heidi at Random with encouraging news about a story she took to committee. I have some additional work to do but that one looks highly promising.
Today will be the first of many required to catch up while also getting some work done. The e-mail backlog grew by 2,000 messages while I was gone and many need to be answered. Wish me luck.
