Yesterday afternoon my editor at Boyds Mills Press sent a complete set of sketches for my next book of poems there. The preliminary sketches were pretty rough and many missed the target but I’m extremely happy with the way the work has evolved and found a groove that kids are sure to love.
When this book was announced in PW, it was described as “a book of funny poetry written from the point of view of different insect students.” Sometimes you just have to be silly.
The pub date isn’t until spring 2018. It’s going to be hard to wait. From start to finish, that’s a five year span. Sigh. But I believe we’re making a book that young readers will like, even though they, and I, must be patient a while longer.
