Here’s my Word of the Month poem inspired by RETURN.
Time of No Return
One day I’ll reach a time of no return.
One day I’ll pause to put my pencil down
And realize I’ve nothing left to burn.
As for pausing now, it’s not my turn.
It still tastes sweet to find the perfect noun
So this is not my time of no return.
When the time will come is no concern.
I think about it, seldom with a frown,
And realize I’ve plenty left to burn.
There is much ahead for me to learn!
Sometimes I wear the mask of silly clown,
Laughing toward the time of no return.
It’s still a distant day when I’ll adjourn.
It may not be my lot to gain renown,
But greet each day with fresh supplies to burn.
I’m at peace although I’ll never yearn
For the time when I must rest my writer’s crown,
The time I’ll reach a point of no return,
The time I’ve nothing left in me to burn.
