Yesterday School Library Journal published a strong review of A PLACE TO START A FAMILY. It mentions “the use of alliteration, rhyme, and onomatopoeia adds an inquisitive nature to the poems as it presents information regarding each animal’s habitat.” And they love Giles’ work. “The 3-D cut-paper collage illustrations exquisitely render insight into the architecture and daily life of each being.” The review sums up calling the book “a great selection for science and poetry enthusiasts.”
Earlier reviews from Kirkus and Publisher’s Weekly were equally good so I’m encouraged. I hope to see more reviews appear now that we’re only one week away from the publication date. Giles Laroche, way to go, partner!
