Couple of days ago we spotted a black saddlebags skimmer, a kind of dragonfly with unusual markings, zooming around the hedge a few feet from our patio. Here’s a picture that Jeff took.
I’m always fascinated by these flashy insects. They’re like the bats of the bug world zigzagging through the air after prey. I used to collect them as a boy. Now I’m content to watch nature’s incredible inventions going about their business.
