  1. Wish i could go. I went a couple years ago and visited friends in Rochester. (It’s a 6-hour drive from where i live). But I cannot leave Mom alone for that long now so trips of more than a couple days are not happening. I’m trying to figure out how i can get to Honesdale for the class i’m taking Nov 7 – 10 but i may need to opt-out and just do the online portion. With travel time it would be 6 days i wo
    uld be away from home.

    • Yvona, I’m sorry about your mother’s health situation. I hope somehow you find a way to take care of your own life while still attending to her needs. If you can’t get to Honesdale this year perhaps they will let you exchange for another time later on.

  2. I only recognize about 5 authors – yourself, Jane Yolen, Heidi Stemple, Nikki Grimes, Do they pay you to come to these things? Or do you pay them? How are authors selected? Just curious in case i ever get a children’s book published… (I know there are events like this in many places but this is the only one i’ve been to).

    • Yvona, there are a number of well established authors on the list this year, as always, and people travel to get there. Authors and artists like to be there and so do their publishers. Most lit fests pay stipends and/or provide food and lodging although range varies from place to place and is rarely the reason why we go.
