Hi everyone,

Recently I was asked by Susan Wade, Public Relations Manager for Springfield, Missouri, Convention & Visitors Bureau, if I’ve ever written a book specifically about Springfield. Turns out I have. CAVE DETECTIVES, UNRAVELLING THE MYSTERY OF AN ICE AGE CAVE, is all about the discovery of Riverbluff Cave, located on Cox Road South here in my hometown.
At Susan’s invitation I wrote a short piece to be posted on the Convention & Visitors Bureau site. It goes up today so I hope you’ll have a look. https://www.springfieldmo.org/articles
Thanks.
Fun!! It’s always neat to “find” something you need! I bet she was thrilled, too!
Wow! I just read the article, and got shivers! How neat to walk the paths of such ancient beasts!
I felt that way, too, Su. Standing where so many creatures had been more than 10,000 years ago reminded me that history started long, long before humans took over the planet.
…and it’s also really nice to realize that there’s SOMETHING older than me on this planet! LOL! (Although my students think I’m ancient!! Ha!)
Ha. Send them a picture of me. Tell them if they don’t study, they’ll wind up looking like that someday.
LOL!!
The fact that the cave was uncovered–blasted open–on Sept. 11, 2001–gives me a chilly feeling. The past coming forward to tell us that there is continuity of life even
when something horrible happens. Now we have the terrible events of Jan. 6, 2021. We need inspiring discoveries now more than ever.
Hi Tina,
Yes, now would be a good time for something game changing and inspiring to come along. Let’s be on the look out!
