This morning at 10:00 CT, as part of the library’s summer reading program I’ll meet children who are signed up for the poetry sessions. Today we’ll talk about poetry, I’ll give examples of how to write a poem inspired by a single sound, and demonstrate how to do it. Tomorrow we’ll meet again at the same time so the kids can share what they wrote and we’ll finish with other ways to get into writing poems. I’m looking forward to these brief (30′) workshops. They will be held virtually but it will still be fun to work with these aspiring young poets.
Until then I have time to finish a poem I wrestled with yesterday. The solution came in the shower. This afternoon is my semi-annual physical. The lab tests are already in and look better than any I’ve had in years. This evening I’ll attend a celebration of life ceremony for an old friend from high school days. A day of variety.
