A love song

Hi everyone,

I’m running late, but here’s my Word of the Month poem for July.

The Moment

My life has always been my own.
No one tells me what to do.
I call the shots, I come and go,
off to search for something new.
But now I know I'll never leave.
I can't speak, can hardly breathe.

She's with another, I don't care.
We haven't met, don't know her name,
but this I know with all my soul,
my life will never be the same.
Since she walked in, I'll never leave.
I can't speak, can hardly breathe.

She looks at me across the room,
a fleeting look, a passing glance.
She smiles and turns her head away.
I'll risk it all, I'll take a chance,
I know now why I'll never leave.
Only together can we breathe.
