Story time

Hi everyone,

In Springfield (MO) on March 26, I’m going to do something different for me. I’m going to read/tell stories at the Artistree Pottery studio while children are painting their own piece of pottery to take home. Who will win their attention, the story or the paint?

The event is already nearly sold out. If you’d like to sign up, better hurry. Entertaining youngsters for an hour leaves plenty of time to vary the menu. I’ll read my latest book — I WANT AN APPLE, HOW MY BODY WORKS. After that, who knows? I’ll bring plenty of material.

A great place to get my books in Springfield

Hi everyone,

Since the online presentation this past Saturday hosted by our Springfield-Greene County Public Library District, I’ve gone to Pagination Bookshop (1150 E. Walnut Street in Springfield) and personalized all the titles in their generous inventory of my books. My thanks to Shane for showing me around the wonderful shop and to Jen Murvin for helping us with book sales for the event.

If you want any of my books, here’s what you’ll find at Pagination. Each one is signed. If you want a person’s name added, let them know at the store and we’ll arrange for me to mail you a signed sticker to insert.

How to get books for tomorrow’s event

Hi everyone,

Tomorrow morning at 11:00 I, along with Jane Yolen, will give a virtual presentation at The Library Center. You can still sign up today for the free program by calling the library and give them your library card ID. This will be a very kid friendly event. I’ll read a poem or two from AFTER DARK and kids who are signed up can follow me along with echo reading and sound effects. Then Jane comes on and we’ll read from and talk about our book, RUM PUM PUM, about a little boy in India who misplaces his drum. A friendless tiger finds it, learns how to make it “talk,” and sets off down the road attracting a parade of new friends.

These two books as well as other of my titles are available through Pagination Bookshop at 1150 E. Walnut Street, an independent bookstore and literary venue housed in a historic home built in 1905.
You can contact Jen Murvin and the staff at paginationbookshop@gmail.com or visit visit the store in person. They’re open to socially distanced and masked browsing Tuesdays-Sundays 12-5, with extended hours Saturday until 6 PM, and their ONLINE STORE is open 24/7! You can choose in-store pick up, shipping, or ship a gift to a loved one. Jen is offering a 15% discount on my books so that’s a good deal. If you want me to sign your books, let her know and I’ll take care of it when I go to her beautiful store later to sign them.

I hope to see some of you tomorrow.

I’m signing AFTER DARK today

BULLETIN: TODAY’S SIGNING AT PAGINATION BOOKSHOP IS CANCELLED. THE OWNER JUST NOW CALLED TO APOLOGIZE FOR THE CONFUSION. SO NOW IT’S MY TURN TO APOLOGIZE TO YOU FOR MY CONFUSION. I HOPE TO TELL YOU BEFORE LONG OF A NEW DATE BEING SET. AGAIN, SORRY.

Hi everyone,

Today I finally get to sign some books! Those of you who live near Springfield and don’t mind the possibility of a little rain are invited to come by The Pagination BookShop at 1150 E. Walnut St. I’ll be signing AFTER DARK, CRAWLY SCHOOL FOR BUGS and perhaps other titles as well so hope to see some people there, masks and all. I’ll be wearing mine.

After all the cancellations of promotional efforts to help introduce AFTER DARK when it came out in February, I’m truly delighted to finally have a chance to personally introduce it to the public.
