Sample from Now You See Them, Now You Don’t

ANNOUNCEMENT: Tomorrow I’ll show you the step by step process of writing this poem. Hope you’ll come by.

Hi everyone,

With only a few months to go before the 2/16 pub date I’d like to share an example from my new Charelesbridge book illustrated by Giles Laroche. First, here’s that magnificent cover again.

The cover picture is of a copperhead using its natural coloration to hide among the leaves. The illustration also appears in the book with this poem.

Dear Mr. Mousssse:

Find me,
If you can,
My sssskin
Deceivessss,
Helpssss me
Dissssappear
Among thesssse
leavessss.

Find me,
If you can,
On dappled
Sssstonessss,
Lounging by
Thissss pile of
Tiny
Bonessss.

Find me,
If you can,
Atop thissss
Ledge,
A broken
Sssstick,
A branch
Along thissss
Edge.

Find me,
If you can,
For if you
Don’t,
I’ll be here
Tomorrow . . .
You
Won’t.

Ssssincerely,
Mr. Copperhead
