Quick report

Hi everyone,

For you who have asked, I’m getting along well post pacemaker insertion. Still not allowed to raise my left arm above my shoulder or reach behind my back, but such things are overrated. I can start driving again on the 12th and the restriction on lifting is waved on the 19th. I see the doctor on the 21st and, if all looks good, I get freedom of arm movement back on the 26th.

Meanwhile, next Tuesday I have a virtual school visit coming up in Columbia, Missouri and am eager for that!

On Easter Sunday afternoon at 2:00 CST, Ozark Publication Television will air the interview of me made last fall for the first time. It will be shown twice more this month, on the 15th at 9:00 p.m. CST and on the 18th at 2:00 p.m. CST. Tomorrow I’ll provide details on how to watch.

I will be on air tomorrow night, unless I’m postponed.

Hi everyone,

The 45-minute interview of me on OzarksWatch, the video magazine that chronicles people in the Ozarks, is scheduled to be aired tomorrow evening at 9:00 p.m. CST and again on Saturday at 1:30 p.m. The program was recorded in the studios of Ozark Public Television this past November and I’ve been looking forward to seeing how it turned out. However, the extreme weather in Springfield has interrupted some scheduled programs and mine may be one of them. If it has to be rescheduled, it will be sometime in April. I’ll let you know if we’re on and how to watch the show if you live within the viewing area. If you can’t catch it but would like to, a few weeks after the airing, the recorded show will be available and I’ll post the link. According to the site, “Since 1999 OzarksWatch Video Magazine has documented, shared and preserved many aspects of this rich heritage. Each episode in the series increases viewers’ knowledge and understanding of the richness and complexity of the Ozarks region while promoting a sense of place for residents and serving as an educational resource.” Here’s the site. https://www.optv.org/shows/documentaries/ozarkswatch-video-magazinea-celebration-of-people-places-and-traditions/

Don’t stare

Hi everyone,

On the 10th I was on KOLR-10 TV with Joy Robertson. This morning at 9:30 CT I’ll be on Zoom to make a video with Mary Jo Fresch as guests of Sam Bommarito to talk about our new book. On the 20th I’ll be the guest of MSU’s Jim Baker on Ozarks Watch on Ozark Public Television. That’s three public appearances in ten days. And just in times for these appearances, guess what I have? My first fever blister of 2020. When did this one start? On the 10th. How long do these things last for me? Ten days. I tell you this humbling bit of news so you won’t stare at my lip and make me self-conscious.

Awakening the Writer Within

Hi everyone,

Yesterday Jennifer Moore sent us the link to the video we made last week on Ozark Public Television. This is the program she hosted called AWAKENING THE WRITER WITHIN. It included three panelists, Jennifer Murvin, Dave Malone, and me.

If you would like to watch the one-hour show, or know someone who might, here’s where to find it. https://video.optv.org/video/awakening-the-writer-within-vbjo3c/

Once again, my thanks to Jennifer Moore for initiating and hosting the program. It was a pleasure to meet and work with Jennifer Murvin and Dave Malone.

A TV program for writers

Hi everyone,

This morning at 11:00 I’ll be taping a three-person panel for Ozark Public Television, which is broadcast from Missouri State University.

The program will be hosted by Jennifer Moore and the title is “Awakening the Writer Within.” We will focus on local resources for writers and tips on how to be productive and successful.

The other two guests are Dave Malone, a poet who teaches at MSU-West Plains and Jennifer Murvin, who teaches creative writing and memoir at MSU. The show, which will last about an hour, will be aired at 8:00 tomorrow night (Thursday) on Ozark Public Television. Join us if you can.
