Hi everyone,
This picture went up yesterday of the poetry round-up panel at Texas Library Association Conference in Houston. In case you missed it, here we are.
First row, left to right: Irene Latham, Stephen Swinburne, Sylvia Vardell, and Janet Wong. Second row, Amy Ludwig VanDerwater, me, Kari Anne Holt, and Kwame Alexander. We had a good and enthusiastic audience, which added greatly to our pleasure.
My thanks again to Sylvia for her tireless efforts to promote poets and poetry with events like this one.
I was interviewed on video for Junior Library Guild by Leslie Bermel and got to talk about the new book. The only scary part was when she had me pull random questions out of a bowl. One was, who should play me in a movie about my life. I thought of Brad Pitt but feared that he’s too old for the part.
During my signing, the line kept growing until we ran out of books and had to turn people away. I was very sorry about that!
All in all, it was a good day and I was happy to be part of the conference.
