Still waking up the sun

Hi everyone,

Yesterday my statement from Random House arrived and I was happy to see that WAKE UP, SUN! sold 6,164 more copies over the last six month reporting period. Its total since it was published nearly 33 years ago in September 1986 is now 1,212,581 copies. Last I knew, three years ago, it was in its 72nd printing making it by far my best selling book in print. I love Hans Wilhelm’s artwork!

Video day

Hi everyone,

I’m off to the library today to make a one-minute video for a kindergarten teacher in Florida.

One of her favorite storybooks as a child was PIGGY WIGLET’S GREAT ADVENTURE and she still uses it, along with WAKE UP, SUN! A MONSTER IS COMING!, and WHEN COWS COME HOME, to help her students develop vocabulary and reading skills.

I’m delighted to know of another fan of PIGGY and am happy to make the video for her. My thanks to Krissy Sinor, Training Coordinator at The Edge Community Technology Center, Midtown Carnegie Branch Library, for facilitating my video, and to Kathleen O’Dell, Community Relations Director at Springfield-Greene County Library District, for being there to take me through it.

Still going after thirty-one years and 72 printings

Hi everyone,
Yesterday I checked on an old standby of mine, WAKE UP, SUN! to see how it was getting along on Amazon.com. The book came out in 1986 and according to my most recent royalty statement from Random House it has sold 1,184,498 copies. As of yesterday the stats posted included: Average Customer Review: 4.5 out of 5 stars, 38 customer reviews
Amazon Best Sellers Rank: #4,570 in Books, #18 in Farm Animals
#48 in Beginner Readers

WAKE UP, SUN! usually weighs in around 18,000 – 25,000 so I’m delighted to see it gain this much ground. Somebody somewhere must have ordered a bunch at one time. By tomorrow it will probably return to normal but for now it’s fun to watch.
