Hi everyone,
Sylvia Vardell and Janet Wong have teamed again for another collection of poems for teachers and students in the classroom. This time they’ve geared their efforts to interest students in grades 6-8 with a wide variety of subjects and follow-up activities meant to reinforce each weekly lesson. The result, THE POETRY FRIDAY ANTHOLOGY FOR MIDDLE SCHOOL: Poems for the School Year with Connections to the Common Core (a separate edition skips the Common Core reference), is another sure-fire winner. My congratulations and appreciation, Janet and Sylvia. Another splendid tool that not only helps students and teachers but provides another stage on which to feature 71 poets and their work.
The list of poets includes most of the ones you’ve heard of and also many up and coming names that you will learn to know in the coming years. I love to be in such a book and am pleased to have two poems in this collection.
