Kate Coombs coming to Poetry from Daily Life

Hi everyone,

My guest this week on Poetry from Daily Life is KATE COOMBS, who lives in Bountiful, Utah. Kate is another example of someone who started writing at an early age and has never stopped. When she was three, she asked her mother what she would be like when she finished being three. She didn’t like the answer because she wanted to go to kindergarten and just being four wasn’t going to work. By seven or eight years, she was writing because she liked to, and her first work was published in 2006.

At this point Kate has written poetry collections, picture books, middle grade fiction, and rhymed board books, but first and foremost she’s a poet. This weekend I’m happy to welcome Kate Coombs to this ongoing conversation called Poetry from Daily Life. Everyone has something to say about the way poetry weaves its way into our lives, whether we are three years old, grownup kindergarteners, or even older than that. Kate’s column appears tomorrow (Saturday) in print in Springfield News-Leader and online in Sunday’s e-edition. Sunday morning I’ll I’ll post the online link so people everywhere can enjoy what she has to share with us and pass it along to others. Thank you, Kate!

      • No names yet! LOL! Did see NINE baby coyotes yesterday on the way home from Cheyenne! Two dens right next to each other! Pretty neat!

      • Good grief! That sounds amazing! We had two deer inside the compound here yesterday, helping themselves to the plantings. I know, pretty tame compared to nine coyotes.
