Heather Lende featured on Poetry from Daily Life

Hi everyone,

Today I get to introduce HEATHER LENDE, who has recently served Alaska as its Writer Laureate. I haven’t done my homework to know of any other state selects a writer for its laureate, but I can tell you Heather sets the bar high. Here’s the link to her guest column. I’ve also posted about my son’s birthday today so there will be two entries on my blog spot. https://www.news-leader.com/story/entertainment/2025/01/26/poetry-from-daily-life-saying-prayer-before-dinner-with-poetry/77876262007/

I hope you will take a minute to share Heather’s column with others and urge them to do likewise. Heather, thank you again for sharing your thoughts with us on Poetry from Daily Life.

Heather Lende coming to Poetry from Daily Life

Hi everyone,

Have you ever met a Writer Laureate? You are about to. The fine state of Alaska has a Writer Laureate rather than a Poet Laureate. I loved meeting HEATHER LENDE, who recently finished her term as Alaska WL, and inviting her to write a guest column for Poetry from Daily Life. She came through with a wonderful piece that makes you see at once why she was selected to serve her state as its WL. This weekend it’s my pleasure to share her thoughts with you.

Heather lives in Haines, and although she is mostly a prose writer, she admires poetry “for the brevity and emotion of it. I read it every morning to begin my day.” Her column appears tomorrow in Springfield News-Leader and this week in five other newspapers. Sunday morning I’ll share a link to the column after it appears in the News-Leader e-edition. Thank you, Heather Lende!
