Poem of the Week – Above The Tree Line

Do you have any poems about outdoor life? “Above the Tree Line” was inspired by a trip to Alaska where we stopped along the road in Denali National Park near the slopes of Mt. McKinley. As the elevation rose the wind became more bitter. I was surprised to discover small bloomng plants tucked away among rocks and a few insects investigating their blossoms. Animals we spotted among the slopes and high meadows — bears, elk, sheep, a wolf — reminded me of just how tough life can be if you’re not genetically prepared to survive. Life above the tree line is brutal.
